Can burned tubes be reversed?
Approximately 1 out of 5 women will have a burned tube tubal ligation. During this type of tubal ligation, electrical current is applied to a small part of the tube and this causes the tube to heal closed.
If the area burned is small and in the middle of the tube then the remaining fallopian tube should be healthy enough to repair and allow for successful pregnancy. If the areas of the tube burned is large then repair is often possible but the remaining tube will be shorter. It is possible to become pregnant with short tubes but the chance is lower.
Approximately 66% of women who have reversal of burned tubes will become pregnant.
