Is tubal ligation permanent?
Tubal ligations dont come undone.
Contrary to popular myth, tied tubes don’t come undone after 5 years and natural fertility automatically restored…. why would any doctor do such a procedure? Tubal ligation is intended to be permanent.
Tubal ligations can fail… but the chance of a tubal ligation failing is less than 2%. To put this another way……if 100 women have tubal ligation procedures approximately 2 women will have a tubal ligation failure before menopause.
Most tubal ligation failures will be pregnancies in the fallopian tubes… or ectopic pregnancies. If you have a tubal ligation and want to become pregnant again you only have 2 choices: tubal reversal surgery or IVF.
Tubal reversal is half the cost of IVF. Tubal reversal is twice as successful as IVF. Tubal reversal allows you the chance to become pregnant more than once!
Benefits of tubal reversal?
Tubal ligation reversal surgery can work. In general approximately 2 out of every 3 women will become pregnant after tubal ligation reversal. The main benefits of tubal reversal are:
- More affordable than in vitro fertilization (IVF)
- Can try to become pregnant every month
- Don’t need monthly doctors visits or treatments
- Can become pregnant more than once
