Are Cut and Tied Tubes Permanent?
Tubal ligation is a procedure that is intended to be permanent… but it does not have to be!
During a tubal ligation procedure the doctor ties a suture around a small segment of the fallopian tube and cuts out that small segment. This is where the term….’tying and cutting’ comes from.
After the procedure the suture eventually dissolves and the cut ends of the tube heal closed. This prevents the sperm from being able to find and fertilize an egg.
Tubal ligation is intended to be permanent but it does not have to be!
Can you get pregnant after your tubes have been tied and cut?
If it can surgically be done…then it can also be surgically undone! Tubal ligation can be reversed.
Dr. Monteith is the medical director of A Personal Choice which is a specialty clinic located in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Dr. Monteith specializes in offering affordable, outpatient tubal reversal surgery.
Patients travel from across the United States to have tubal reversal surgery with Dr. Monteith because most doctors do not offer tubal reversal surgery, have little experience with reversal surgery, charge so much that patients are forced into having in-vitro fertilization (IVF) or giving up hope.
Dr. Monteith can reverse most tubal ligations. On average about 2 out of every 3 patients will become pregnant after tubal ligation reversal with Dr. Monteith.
