Megan was experiencing Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome (PTLS) and she was determined to do something about it.
In the previous article, PTLS Syndrome: Megan’s Experience, we shared Megan’s experience with tubal ligation and her symptoms of PTLS.
Megan gradually began to realize she was suffering from PTLS and became determined to fix her PTLS symptoms.
She educated herself about her condition, started a blog and a Facebook page to document her journey, and began to look for Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome help.
Tubal Ligation Side Effect: Anxiety
Megan gradually began to associate the problems she was experiencing after her tubal ligation with PTLS after searching for “anxiety after tubal ligation” on the internet. She had been suffering from a variety of side effects and found these same problems were also symptoms of PTLS .
She discovered she had most of the PTLS symptoms but was disappointed when she approached her ob/gyn who did not take her seriously and offered her a hysterectomy.
Megan then went to her primary care doctor who was much more supportive and offered to write Megan a letter to see if her health insurance would cover the cost of tubal reversal surgery.
PTLS Treatments And Health Insurance
Megan soon found out that her health insurance plan would not recognize PTLS as a medical condition which they covered. They regarded tubal ligation reversal as fertility treatment only and they were not going to pay for Megan’s tubal reversal.
Megan was determined to reverse her tubes and to educate others about Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome. She began blogging about her experience and she also created a Facebook page, Fit To Be Un-Tied: My Journey With Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome, for women who have been suffering with PTLS syndrome.
Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome Treatment: Tubal Reversal
Megan also began searching the internet for Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome doctors and she found A Personal Choice.
She was relieved when she saw other women on the Tubal Reversal Message Boards and on the Facebook page of CHTRC who were also suffering from PTLS.
Megan felt like A Personal Choice was the best place for her to have her tubal reversal surgery.
I found A Personal Choice in a web search and began scouring the message boards for stories on PTLS… I was so hopeful after that. I knew immediately I was going to go to CHTRC for my surgery.
She began saving her money earnestly in order to be able to afford tubal reversal surgery.
PTLS Reversal
Megan came for tubal reversal surgery to reverse her PTLS symptoms.
She had an uncomplicated tubal reversal surgery with Dr. Monteith. Megan’s PTLS reversal surgery went well. Her surgery was out-patient, lasted for 45 minutes and her tubes were in good condition. The estimated blood loss was about 4 teaspoons! Megan did well in the recovery room and she was discharged to the local hotel.
On the day after the surgery she was doing well and was discharged to home after being evaluated by one of the Tubal Reversal Nurses.
PTLS Recovery
Megan is doing well after her tubal reversal surgery. She has reported on her blog that her recovery from reversal surgery has been amazing and she has begin to notice improvement in her tubal ligation problems within the first two weeks! Four days after her reversal surgery Megan posted on the Facebook page of CHTRC:
My experience at Chapel Hill has been PRICELESS. It has only been 4 days post Op for me, and I can already feel the difference.
Readers who want to travel with Megan on her journey as well as ask her questions about her experience should join her on her blog Fittobeuntied .
Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome Doctors
Women who are having side effects after their tubal ligation and are seeking Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome doctors should first see their primary care physicians for evaluation.
These doctors should evaluate you for other medical and gynecologic causes of menstrual problems which can mimic PTLS. If all test and evaluations are inconclusive and your problems started soon after tubal ligation then you should consider giving the tubal reversal doctors of A Personal Choice a call.
Their nursing staff are available to provide a free phone consultation during normal business hours (919) 968-4656.
