Dr. Monteith’s career as a tubal reversal doctor began in 2008. After completing a microsurgery training course at the Cleveland Clinic and a six month training mentorship in tubal ligation reversal surgery under Dr. Gary Berger, Dr. Monteith began to exclusively specialize in fertility surgery.
Since 2008, Dr. Monteith has gained extensive expertise in reversing all types of tubal ligations and in repairing blocked fallopian tubes caused by gynecological diseases. Dr. Monteith currently offers tubal reversal, Essure reversal, Essure removal, and vasectomy reversal surgery. He also offers minimally invasive His Choice No Scalpel vasectomy.

After years of providing tubal ligation reversal to his female patients, Dr. Monteith sought extra training in both minimally invasive vasectomy reversal surgery and no-scalpel vasectomy.

Professional Background
Dr. Monteith graduated from college in the top three of his class and with honors from Xavier University of Louisiana. He attended medical school at the prestigious University of California at San Francisco School of Medicine, which was consistently ranked among the top four medical schools in the United States by national surveys. While at the University of California at San Francisco, Dr. Monteith received a prestigious Howard Hughes research fellowship to research molecular genetics.
He completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his residency, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Dr. Monteith was best known for being a patient teacher and instructor to other residents and students. He was the recipient of many awards for resident and medical student teaching. After completing residency in 2001, Dr. Monteith accepted a Clinical Assistant Professorship with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Experience With Complicated Surgeries and High Risk Pregnancies
During his tenure as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Monteith served in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, N.C. and practiced obstetrics and advanced surgical gynecology. He continued teaching residents and medical students in the practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology, participated in a private obstetrics practice, and delivered babies and helped care for many high-risk pregnancies. He developed extensive experience in laparoscopic surgery and the surgical treatment of advanced gynecologic problems. Dr. Monteith brings with him the experience of providing over ten years of obstetrical care and this allows him to better counsel tubal surgery patients about pregnancy concerns before his patients have tubal reversal surgery.
Dr. Monteith is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and by virtue of his board certification Dr. Monteith possesses special knowledge, skills and professional capability in the medical and surgical care of women related to pregnancy and disorders of the female reproductive system.
Dr. Monteith left his successful practice in obstetrics and gynecology after seven years. He felt his true calling as a physician was in using his skills to help those who other doctors would not or could not help. He felt his true calling as a surgeon was in using his skills to perform procedures, which make significant differences in his patient’s lives. This is his view of what it truly means to be both a physician and a surgeon.
